M-Treks are small outdoor adventure trips designed to foster
friendships among classmates, promote leadership development, and
introduce incoming students to the team-based environment at the
Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. Trips
take place in mid-August and are open to all incoming students. One of
M-Trek's primary goals is to make trips accessible to all students with
respect to time, money and physical challenge -- no one need be left
out. Whether you're looking for a hard-core adventure experience or a
relaxing walk in the woods, M-Trek has a trip for you.
M-Trek is... an outdoor adventure. Small groups of incoming MBA
students are led by second-year MBA mentors ... into the "Wild Blue
Yonder." The great outdoors -- where all are created equal (regardless
of age, gender, race or GMAT score) -- serves as the ideal place to
orient yourself to the Ross culture. Trips vary in location, activities
and abilities -- so you can choose the trip that's best for you.
M-Trek is... a completely student-run organization at the Stephen M.
Ross School of Business. The idea of M-Trek was formed by a group of
first-year MBAs who had the desire to create an "out-of-the classroom"
experience that would further strengthen the bonds of the UMBS
community. The 1999 inaugural year was a huge success for both MBA1s
and MBA2s alike.
M-Trek is... a fun and informational way to start business school. By
taking part in M-Trek, first-year MBAs will gain a valuable
introduction into the Ross "way-of-life" -- from the establishment of a
core group of friends (your fellow MBA1s); to an immediate immersion
into the distinctive Ross team environment (helping your fellow
trekkers to pitch a tent); to learning about the quietest place to
study on campus (from the MBA2 trip leaders).
M-Trek is... a fun, safe and exciting way to form lasting bonds with classmates in the great outdoors.
M-Trek is not...
A program only for outdoor jocks
Nights spent in a 5-star hotel
Lounging by the pool
Just a vacation
While M-Trek may not be for everybody, we hope you will find a trek that interests you...
