Non-traditional Careers Showcase: Fall
Ross Net Impact partners with the Office of Career Development to showcase non-traditional and social-impact oriented careers through a number of different OCD workshops throughout the Fall. In these workshops, you’ll hear second year students and recent alums discuss their own experiences searching for and working in less traditional and social-impact related fields. Look out for more details on these workshops via email from OCD and Ross Net Impact.

Corporate Presentations: ongoing throughout year
Ross Net Impact partners with the Office of Career Development (OCD) and companies to provide its members with on-campus presentations that highlight the organizations’ CSR (corporate social responsibility) values and other opportunities. For those companies that recruit on-campus through the traditional OCD interviewing process, NI works with OCD to encourage these organizations to bring representatives that can showcase their more socially responsible business activities and available positions.

For other socially-responsible companies that may not come to Ross via traditional recruiting channels, NI conducts ongoing outreach to such organizations to develop customized touchpoints with Ross and its NI membership to allow them to showcase their commitment to social responsibility and relevant initiatives and available positions. These customized touchpoints vary from specialized company presentations, to case competitions, to networking events.

Virtual Roundtable Discussions: Ongoing
Lastly, for those organizations that are interested in engaging with Ross Net Impact, but unable to do so on-campus, we will plan on organizing “Virtual Roundtable Discussions,” which are hosted conference calls designed to allow key organizations to interact with a small group of interested students to showcase their socially responsible initiatives, specific career opportunities, and provide an intimate discussion forum.

If you have any ideas for companies you’d like to see on campus, or would like to assist in our corporate outreach, please let us know

Resume Review: Fall
Get advice on crafting an effective resume as part of your social impact career search. Ross Net Impact will hold a Resume Review session in the Fall for you to sign up for a “consultation” with a second year Net Impact member in your field of interest.

Resume Book: Fall
Ross NI partners with the Office of Career Development to compile an electronic Resume Book of our members twice a year. The Fall Resume Book will be compiled in advance of Net Impact National Conference (November 2007) for distribution both before and after the conference to target organizations that will be recruiting at the event. The Winter/Spring Resume Book is compiled in the Winter and distributed to organizations that approach OCD in search of candidates seeking more socially-responsible type of opportunities. Stay tuned for more details from the Career Development Committee and OCD on the details and related deadlines for inclusion in these Resume Books.

Career Treks: Ongoing
NI Career Treks are student-led trips to major metropolitan areas, which are geared to introduce students to companies with strong CSR (corporate social responsibility) philosophies. Career Treks involve customized site visits to companies during the course of a one or two day visit, and are arranged throughout the year as scheduling and student interest permit. Typical itinerary cities include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Washington, D.C. etc. If you have any suggestions in terms of locations or organizations that you’re interested in visiting on a career trek (and especially if you’d be interested in helping us plan a trek), then the Career Development Committee would love to hear from you! Please email us at Careers@rossnetimpact.org with your ideas!

Please stay tuned for more details on these and other recruiting-related events. Be sure to check the “Events” section of this site, as well as the Ross NI newsletters for more details throughout the year.

As always, if you have any suggestions or would like to help plan upcoming recruiting-related events, please don’t hesitate to contact the Career Development Committee at Careers@rossnetimpact.org.
