New: New paper (with Edward Kim and Shohini Kundu) on the economic implications of reciprocal deposits. Reciprocal deposits allow banks to obtain a much higher level of deposit insurance for their clients by breaking large deposits into smaller pieces and placing them with other banks on a reciprocal bases. After the SVB crisis, banks significantly increased the use of these deposits, and it has implications for financial stability and the IO of banking. Paper here.
