LEADERSHIP, ETHICS, AND DEVELOPMENT (LEAD) GROUP

Overview

The LEAD Group is a collection of faculty, doctoral students, and undergraduates dedicated to the scientific study of leadership and ethics. We have worked on projects examining the following questions:

·         Do leaders think of ethics as part of their responsibility?

·         When are morally courageous individuals derogated vs. exalted?

·         How does coaching affect employee performance over time?

·         When are leadership development programs successful?

·         How do the ethics of leaders and peers impact employee whistle-blowing?

We use a variety of methods including qualitative (e.g., interviews) and quantitative (e.g., experiments, surveys) approaches. We seek to contribute to the scientific literature, to develop the research and mentoring skills of doctoral students, and to expose undergraduates to the scientific process.
