Interests: Intellectual Property, Technology Strategy, and Innovation

Rosemarie Ziedonis is an Assistant Professor of Strategy at the University of Michigan's Stephen M. Ross School of Business. She received her Ph.D. in Business and Public Policy from U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business and her undergraduate degree in economics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Prior to joining the Ross School faculty in 2002, Professor Ziedonis was an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.

Professor Ziedonis' research investigates the strategic use of intellectual property and the mechanisms firms use to identify and absorb external technologies. Her research has been published in leading academic journals, including Organization Science, Management Science, the Rand Journal of Economics, and the Strategic Management Journal. Her 2001 article in the Rand Journal, "The Patent Paradox Revisited: An Empirical Study of Patenting in the US Semiconductor Industry, 1979-95" (with Bronwyn Hall) was identified by the Information Sciences Institute (ISI) as a top-cited paper in economics and business. She currently serves on the Editorial Boards of two leading management journals, the Academy of Management Journal and the Strategic Management Journal.

At Michigan, Professor Ziedonis teaches an MBA elective course she developed, The Strategic Management of Intellectual Capital (STRAT553), and an MBA course in Corporate Strategy (STRAT601).
